Good site. costofwar.com keeps track of the dollar cost of the Iraq war so far, and compares it to other things we could be spending it on. An example: we could have provided health insurance for about 50 million children for one year with the amount spent so far.

If we allow bush to keep the military in Iraq until his term in office ends in 2008, this nation will find itself well into a Great Depression. At 7œ Billion Dollars a month, the U.S Teasury is being drained with no chance of replenishment. Goodbye middle class.

I wanted to mention something most Americans are hesitant to think, much less discuss. Since the days of Richard Nixon, we have witnessed almost sinister behavior coming from the republican party. For years they have been trying to convert this democracy into a banana republic. It seems each republican president has contributed as much as he could to help with the conversion. reagan was the president that did his best to bolster the corporation and diminish the social well being of the middle class.

Presently, we find a President who has put together a team whose sole purpose is to enrich the corporate coffers by outsourcing all the businesses in this nation, reducing any type of benefits the common worker enjoys and giving the CEOs of major corporations perks and a severance packages which far exceeds any negotiated settlement for the employees which failed prior to the retirement of these so called leader of the companies.

We also are witness to the fact that this President has used this War as a convenient excuse to hire 126 thousand contractors to build in Iraq, 14 permanent military bases and a lavish embassy which rivals Disney World in Florida! And, on top of all this underhandedness, they are clandestinely negotiating an Oil Production Sharing Agreement with the Iraqi Government, which is stalled presently because the Kurds will not agree to such an outrageous proposal.

Then there are the elections of 2000 and 2004. Some might say they were ‘fixed’. People like karl rove and the president of Dieboldt having an underhanded role in manipulating and discouraging the voters in key swing States.

It seems like all of the ‘handing off of a determined purpose’ is coming to a head in the early 21st century. They are determined to destroy this nation to a diminished state which will serve their corporate purposes. The National Economy is on the verge of depletion because of the 7 and a half Billion Dollars draining from our Treasury every month since 2003. And the republicans are trying their best to continue the drainage under the guise of ‘funding the war’.

I would say from all that has happened since the days of nixon, this republican party has acted in a criminal fashion. Blatantly coming out and revealing itself with this last president. All the planning of the past decades are finally being implemented.

I think after they have been thwarted and we regain control of this Democracy, we conduct a Criminal Investigation of this party and maybe change the way this party is able to operate, into a party which has limitations in certain areas. I realize that with such an undergoing, many corporations will choose to leave this nation. I say ‘good riddance’! They were traitors for partaking of the evil scheme to kill the American Spirit. We are a nation of bright and skillful people. Products and inventions that were prominently known for all these years can be replaced by other entrepreneurs. Let those evil corporations act as parasites on other unsuspecting developing nations. We need a major cleansing of this nation, and we need to seriously think about examining and correcting this rogue political party.

If you’re interested in striking back somehow at the current regime, there is something you can do, peacefully. And it is always better to protest non-violently.

DO NOT BUY FROM THESE
Shell............................ 205,742,000 barrels
Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels
Exxon /Mobil................130,082,000 barrels
Marathon/Speedway...117,740,000 barrels
Amoco......................... 62,231,000 barrels
If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION!
Here are some large companies that do not import Middle Eastern oil:
Citgo....................0 barrels
Sunoco..............0 barrels
Conoco...............0 barrels
Sinclair............... 0 barrels
BP/Phillips.......... 0 barrels
Hess...................0 barrels
All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing. Get a list going and spread the word. Soon the whole nation will ‘quietly protest’ this administration and all its’ evil doings by refusing to use middle eastern oil.

I have to make a correction. The American Layman tells me that CITGO is one of the petroleum distributors who uses Midddle Eastern Oil. Sorry for the mistake, but I 'did' get the information from the Department of Energy. Damn!!!

In Denver, Colorado, I'm a regular listener of Thom Hartmann. I enjoy his show and share his views.

Today is the first day of your website and will view it often.

Thank you for your insightful information.

I am a member of the Council of Canadians (CoC). The head office receives e-mails and then passes them on to the members. About 4 years ago, an American lady e-mailed the Coc and her letter was passed along. In essance, the lady implored us, as Canadians, not to buy any thing American. When you do, she said, part of the money goes to help finance Bush and his murderous campains. I do my best NOT to buy American. I am also opposed to secret deals negotiated behind closed doors with no media present, the public are shut out, and there is no debate in our Parliament. The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) and the Trade, Investment, and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) signed and in effect as of this past April, between Alberta and British Columbia with some other provinces wanting in. These documents are bad news should they ever become the law of the land,

Keep fighting.
